Fully Rely On God (F.R.O.G.) of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church sponsored a bus trip Dec. 4 to the Christmas by the Lake event in Clear Lake, Iowa. Forty-two people were on the coach bus.
Deal or no deal prize drawings were held on the bus prior to arriving in Clear Lake. Of the 12 names drawn, two said no deal and were sold for cash with Bruce Stolaas the winner of the cash.
The afternoon activities ranged from a petting zoo, carriage rides, visiting with Santa Claus to fun shopping.
Strolling around Main Street were the Charles Dickens’ characters including the Bah-Hum-Bug Scrooge. A trained flock of roaming geese were a big hit in their Christmas outfits. A lighted Christmas parade at 5 p.m. was followed by excellent fireworks over the frozen lake.
Prior to arriving at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Clear Lake for a buffet they sang to 20-year-old Ryan Tibodeau for his birthday. As the group left KFC Meg Tibodeau led in singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” to the staff.
The next planned F.R.O.G. activity is a Valentine’s Day party with pizza, pop and ice cream bars while playing Norwegian Bingo on Feb. 5 at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church.
The Christmas by the Lake trip in 2011 is scheduled for Dec. 3.
