Hawkeye fans still get a bowl

Do not fret, Hawkeye fans. Despite losing three close games (final game a major upset) to conclude the Big 10 season, one needs to look at the “big picture.” Iowa trounced Michigan State, lost by 3 points to Ohio State, and by 1 point to Wisconsin. Those three teams shared the conference title. The Hawks have been in every game they’ve played the last three seasons, losing but 11 times by an average of 3.5 points per game. No loss was by more than seven points. That’s rather competitive, I’d say.
You know that your football team is the envy of others when the home team beats you, followed by a major on-field celebration, as Northwestern and Minnesota did. Speaking of the Gophers, Mr. Andrew Dyrdal of the Tribune notes, “Stoudermire became the savior of the Gophers’ season Saturday.” Interesting statement considerng the Gophers wound up 2-6 in the conference (10th place), and 3-9 overall. So the Iowa win “saved” their season? Go figure.
The Hawkeyes are headed yet to another bowl game, very possibly on Jan. 1. Tune in.
