Help find missing golden retriever
Published 8:47 am Thursday, December 2, 2010
Mic is an 8-year-old neutered male registered golden retriever who has been with our entire family since he was a puppy. Our entire family has loved Mic, including five young children. He loved to play fetch every day.
Mic disappeared after being spooked by nearby hunters’ gunfire. We drove around and searched for him daily.
Sunday we contacted the Humane Society. They informed us that they had picked him up after a phone call from a neighbor on Wednesday. They said they had advertised on the radio and in the newspaper, neither of which we listen to or read as we are from the Austin area and not Albert Lea. They told us we had ample time to claim him. When a family member is missing what is ample time to claim him?
They also informed us that he had been shipped to South Dakota to a Golden Retriever Rescue.
Mic has a microchip, which we were told would identify him and find his family if he was lost.
We would like to know why the Humane Society didn’t check for a microchip as the microchip company donates money to shelters to do this. We thought they were there to help animals and their families and not to make a profit from them.
We were told we could fill out an application to adopt him. Do we have to adopt our own dog, not knowing if we can get him back? We feel as if he’s been stolen from us.
The Humane Society has made our lives very unhappy. What kind of organization is this? It’s certainly not humane.
Please bring our Mic home to us and make our holidays happy for Mic and his family.
