Knights fall to Bulldogs, top Hawks

JANESVILLE – Alden-Conger’s Taylor Martin scored 20 points on back-to-back nights Monday and Tuesday as the Knights girls’ basketball team went 1-1 in the Rotary Classic in Janesville.

The Knights (4-4) lost 60-50 to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Monday after trailing 24-28 at halftime.

Martin had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Nicole Schultz chipped in 13 points.

On the second day of the Rotary Classic, the Knights overcame a 23-20 halftime deficit to beat Madelia 40-37.

Martin scored 20 points and added 10 rebounds while Ariel Keller scored five points and grabbed a team-high 22 rebounds.

“We got the ball to her and she knows what to do with it,” Knights head coach Gary Newman said of Martin.

Brittany Waters added six points.

The Knights play again Thursday, Jan. 6 against Medford in Alden.
