AUSTIN — The Albert Lea girls’ hockey team lost to the Minneapolis Novas 1-0 Monday in the opening round of the Austin Tournament at Riverside Arena.

The Novas (3-8) scored on a power play goal with four minutes and 22 seconds left in the third period.

The Tigers (6-5) outshot the Novas 28-16 but couldn’t find the back of the net.

“It’s just one of those nights where the puck just didn’t go in,” Tigers head coach Paul Willet said.

The Tigers played Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony Village (3-8) this morning at 11 a.m. at Riverside Arena in Austin.
