Rebels down Eagles

Kayla Stenzel had 16 points to lead the United South Central Rebels girls’ basketball team past the Maple River Eagles 49-39 Thursday in Maple River.
After being down 17-14 at halftime, the Rebels forced the Eagles into 14 second half turnovers that allowed the Rebels to get on a run and over take the Eagles.
“We switched up our defense in the second half and it made a big difference,” USC coach Stu Hendrickson said.
Along with Stenzel, Kristie Ovrebo and Danielle Koestler both chipped in nine points apiece, while Val Sahr led the team with 11 rebounds.
USC ended up out rebounding Maple River 30-29 on the night.
The undefeated Rebels are back in action on Friday as they host Fairmont.
