We recall when the old Albert Lea High School was torn down in 2005 and 2006 that many people lamented the loss of the cavernous Cap Emmons Auditorium. However, community members have to admit that the auditorium at the new Albert Lea High School, built in 2000, has worked out mightily well as a replacement. It’s not as big and lacks a balcony, but the sound, lighting, stage and warmth all make up for it.
