Why is it that the highways this week in Iowa are free of snow and ice but the ones in Minnesota are not? For Interstate 35 (above), U.S. Highway 65 and U.S. Highway 69, the difference is immediately noticeable when crossing the state line. On the Minnesota side, the road surface is icy and driving is scary. On the Iowa side, the road surface is clear and driving is safe. What gives?
