We like shopping on Black Friday, of course, but doesn’t it seem unnecessary for people to shop so early in the morning that day? We can’t blame the stores for opening; they are just responding to the demand of consumers. It is the American consumer who forces the American retail worker to have to crawl out of bed so early to be at work. Or worse, to have to work on Thanksgiving Day itself. Heard around many a table on Turkey Day was a yearning for the ways of old, when people seemed to want to spend more time with the family.
