Vivian McCall, 88, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Vivian L. McCall, 88, of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ron Brey will officiate. Vivian McCall

Vivian died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.

Vivian L. McCall was born on March 7, 1922, the daughter of Melvin and Minnie (Finkie) Quiggle. She was raised on the family farm in Hollandale. Vivian attended Westside Grade School till 1936, then, continued her education in Rochester, graduating in 1936 from RHS. Upon returning to Albert Lea she worked at Bungalow Café, Dwight’s Ice Cream, Spicer Drug and for over 30 years at Green Lea Golf Course. While working at Spicer Drug she met the love of her life and married Wallace A. McCall. Wally passed away in 1965. Vivian was a member of the Weslyan Church where she was Sunday school teacher, church secretary an active in women’s missionary circle. She was an avid bowler and a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary. Vivian’s faith and love of God kept her strong. She loved her church and touched many hearts. Vivian had a great love of the color purple and she became “Grandma Purple” to her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathy Jensen, of Albert Lea; son, LaDean (Doreen) McCall, of Robbinsdale; grandchildren: Jeremy Jensen and Janelle (Mike) Oothoudt of Albert Lea, Macy (Aaron) Sandness of Parker, Colo., Mason and Crystal McCall of Alpine, Calif., Emily and Olivia McCall of Robbinsdale, Holly and Rachel Johnson of Robbinsdale; great-grandchildren: Ava and Gavin Sandness; brother and sister-in-law: James and Juletta Quiggle and her Thorne Crest family.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace; sister Sylvia; nephew, Harley; and niece, Arlawayne.
