Alden-Conger is a great school

Going to a small school is a wonderful opportunity for children, and at Alden-Conger the teachers do an exceptional job of going above and beyond the curriculum. We are fortunate to have our children participate in some awesome field trips. One that particularly stands out is the fourth- and fifth-grade trip to the Minnesota Zoo and Fort Snelling. This experience is like no other as the children get a behind-the-scenes tour and in-depth learning opportunity. To fund this semi-annual trip the families do an annual chili supper and bake sale. Details are as follows:

From 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, chili supper and bake sale at the school in Alden. The varsity girls’ and boys’ basketball teams are hosting Martin County West beginning at 6 p.m.

The menu includes homemade chili, grated cheese, a buttered bun, crackers, krispy bar, lemonade and decaf coffee.

Prices are $4 for kindergartners through fifth-graders, $6 for sixth-graders through adults and free for preschool age children and younger.

Proceeds from this fundraiser go toward the Minnesota Zoo and Fort Snelling two-day field trip. This trip is a memory maker to enrich the fourth- and fifth-grade curriculum. Donations may also be sent to the Alden-Conger Public School 4/5 fund, PO Box 99, Alden, MN  56009. For further information please contact the Alden-Conger School.

It’s a fun night for a great cause. We hope you will be able to attend.
