Americans trust the Republicans

I was amused upon reading Mr. Ted Hinnenkamp’s recent letter to the editor, headlined “Why Republicans can’t be trusted.” Much of the letter contains the “blame George Bush” theme, which has been ringing hollow for some time.

The elections of this past November resulted in a nationwide shellacking of Democrats, indicating that the majority of Americans have placed their trust in the Republican Party to pull the country out of the current economic quagmire. True, it’s now up to the GOP leaders to meet the challenges given them. And, given the election results from two months ago, most of our citizens “trust” that the Republican leadership can achieve positive results.
