Bauman leads Rebels past Eagles

WELLS — Kyle Bauman scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds Thursday as the United South Central boys’ basketball team knocked off the No. 8-ranked Maple River Eagles 63-60 in Wells.
The Rebels (5-2, 2-1 Section 2AA) led the Eagles (8-2, 2-1) 30-17 at halftime and held off a Maple River rally for the upset.
Riley Niebuhr scored 15 points and had five rebounds while Bauman added four blocks and four steals.
Jaron Denn led the Eagles with 19 points.
The Rebels play again at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Randolph (3-4, 2-1 Gopher).
