Can seniors get the heater back?

I wish to call to the attention of the Albert Lea City Council and the Parks and Recreation Department in particular a problem that exists at the Albert Lea Senior Center. Jan. 10 was the start of the fourth week that there has been no heat in the billards room. Please note I did not make an error when I said it is the start of the fourth week without heat.

The heat system at the Senior Center is apparently in two units. The larger room with the dining facilities has heat. We were told that a part in the heat unit in the pool room had been ordered and didn’t come. Then we were told that part came but no one knew how to install it. No one from the Parks and Recreation Department has shown the courtesy to stop by and inform us of what is happening and when the problem will solved. Meanwhile the members play pool in jackets and one member even played with gloves on. A week ago a small electric heater was placed in the room. It had such a small capacity that I doubt if it could have warmed up a pup tent.

This letter would be signed by many members of the group that uses the pool room, but the Albert Lea Tribune will not accept letters with more than one writer. Can we expect this to be looked in to? And soon!
