Free flu shot clinic Jan. 26

A free flu shot clinic will be in Albert Lea at Sterling Drug from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 26.

According to a news release sent out by Astrup Drug — the parent company to Sterling Drug — recent reports indicate that seasonal influenza is on the rise as many have been hit with the illness after spending time with family over the holidays.

The flu often persists through March and is expected to strike again in mid February. It’s not too late to protect yourself.

“Many patients believe they have to get flu shots in October or November and after that, it’s too late. In fact, you can get flu shots up through March to protect yourself. And, doing so can help keep you healthier and avoid all that comes along with the flu”, said Tim Gallagher, chief operating officer for Austin-based Astrup Drug, parent company to Sterling.

Shots will be available while quantities last; appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled by calling Sterling at 507-373-1486.

More information is available online at www.thedrugstorewithmore.com.

When asked why Sterling is giving flu shots away, Gallagher responded: “We know there are many people without jobs, insurance or in other less-than-ideal situations, which may be keeping them from getting their vaccination. We’d like to give folks an opportunity to protect themselves.”
