Remembering the life of Francis (Rudy) Anthony Janka.
The funeral service for Francis (Rudy) Anthony Janka will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at St. Aidan’s Catholic Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Swami will officiate. Interment will be in Geneva Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Ellendale and one hour before the service at the church.
Rudy was born in Albert Lea on July 17, 1940. He was the son of Anton and Florence (Kulla) Janka. He married Darla Neitzell on Nov. 24, 1962, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Newry.
Rudy worked at Wilson & Co., Diekema Construction, Brigg’s Trucking, Cenex and the City of Ellendale. In addition, he helped many local farmers during harvest. He was a volunteer fireman for 43 years for Ellendale Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and entertaining with family and friends.
Rudy died on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at his home after battling cancer.
Rudy is survived by his three children, Brenda (Gary) Tschann of Rochester, Kari Janka (Bob Powell) of Ellendale, Troy (Stephanie) Janka of Owatonna, and eight grandchildren: McKenzie, Tanner, Madison, Alyssa, Andrew, Ashton, Paige and Libby. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Darla, and his sister, Delores (Tootsie) Kasper and his parents, Florence and Anton Janka.
