Lee Crawford, county executive director of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Freeborn County, reminds producers they have until Monday to submit an application for payment under the 2010 Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honey Bees, and Farm-raised Fish Program.
The program provides emergency assistance to eligible producers of livestock, honeybees and farm-raised fish who have losses due to disease, adverse weather or other conditions, including losses due to blizzards, wildfires, severe storms and tornados.
Assistance is for losses not covered under other disaster assistance programs established by the 2008 Farm Bill. The Farm Service Angency is authorized to spend up to $50 million per year nationwide to provide emergency relief for eligible losses.
Producers who feel they have suffered a qualifying loss are encouraged to file an application. Contact the Freeborn County FSA Office at 507-373-7960 for more information or visit www.fsa.usda.gov/nm.
