Harold Boyd, 80, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Harold (Bud) E. Boyd of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt of the First Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery at a later date. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Bud died Dec. 11, 2010, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center. He was 80 years of age. He was born March 28, 1930, in Albert Lea, the son of Henry and Anna (Kroke) Boyd. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1948 and after graduation entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War stationed in Germany and France.
Bud had been employed by Wilson & Co. for more than 30 years as a millwright. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Albert Lea American Legion, VFW and a very active member of the Albert Lea Eagles Club.
Bud was an artist and loved to draw. He enjoyed music, animals and any wildlife. He would spend his summers at his lake cabin in Cross Lake, where he was joined by his nephew on many occasions. Bud was a perfectionist in everything he did whether it be golfing (he had a hole in one), bowling or skating. He loved all sports.
Bud is survived by two sisters, Rebecca Johnson of Owatonna, Avis Hurst of Albert Lea; one brother, Orlyn (Pricilla) Boyd of Lindale, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marlys Boyd.
