Hilda Daily, 93, New Florence, Mo.

Fortified with the Sacrament of Holy Mother Church, Hilda Anna (Ann) Daily passed away on Jan. 20, 2011, at the New Florence Nursing and Care Center in New Florence, Mo., at the age of 93. Hilda was born to Martin and Martha Hensel Perleberg on Dec. 10, 1917, in London.

She attended the schools of Freeborn County. On May 6, 1939, at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Austin she married William T. Daily of Milan, Mo., the son of Edward and Bertha Lawrence Daily. She then moved to Milan, Mo., where she became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She remained a faithful member of that parish until the time of her death.

She was a long time member of the Altar Society and was St. Mary’s Parish housekeeper for 35 years. She worked in several offices and homes in the county taking great pride in her work and of a job well done.

She was an honorable lady and a truly devoted Christian who will live well in the minds of those who knew her. Throughout the trials in her life, her faith never wavered.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Harlan Perleberg and Norman Perleberg; two sisters: Loretta Fielder and Gladys Perleberg; and one son-in-law, Charles Smith.

She is survived by six children: Rita Branstetter (Dick) of Perry, Mo., Mary Bracht (Herb) of Warrenton, Mo., William J. Daily (Melody) of Glasgow, Mo., Joan Smith of Green City Lois Daily of St. Louis, Mo., and Patrick Daily (Vicki) of Albia, Iowa. Also surviving is one brother, Willard (Jack) Perleberg of Glenville; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milan, Mo., at 11 a.m. today with the Rev. Patrick Dowling officiating. Music was provided by Phyllis Fleshman, Jean Nee and Janice Scobee, with a special music selection by her grandchildren, Cindy Branstetter, Rich Branstetter and Lori Beth Stathem. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons: Richard, Robert, Randy and Ryan Branstetter, Terence and Travis Bracht, Camden Daily and Christopher and Brandon Daily. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters: Debra Smith, Paula Bracht, Shannon Stokes and Erin Daily.

In lieu of flowers, her request was that donations be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milan, Mo.
