Janice Grove

Funeral services for Janice Ione Grove of Albert Lea will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grace Lutheran Church Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Janice died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at the St. Jude Hospice in Vadnais Heights. She was 87 years of age.

Janice was born May 13, 1923, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Henry and Amanda (Mork) Hanson. She graduated from high school in Bricelyn and attended college at Waldorf and Iowa State University. She was united in marriage to Irving A. Grove in Bricelyn.

Janice was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and was active as the church organist, played piano for the choir, taught Sunday school, confirmation and was a member of the ladies aid. She was employed by American Family Insurance in Albert Lea and then became the personal assistant for Art Lund at Security State Bank for many years. She was a member of the Sons of Norway.

Janice enjoyed sewing, playing and teaching piano and spending time with the grandchildren. She loved teaching them how to make Scandinavian treats. She was a very loving and caring person.

Janice is survived by her sons: Darrell and his wife, Marcia of Vadnais Heights, and Keith and his wife, Dee Ann of Andover; grandchildren include: Alison (Alex) Gorsevski, Kristen Doppelhammer, Denise Grove, Kerri Grove and Jared Grove. There are two step-grandchildren: Jamie and Tom Bunkholt; great-grandchildren are: Phillip and Damien Gorsevski, Kira, Mia and Neena Bunkholt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Irving and daughter Ione Grove.
