Kindler should try factory work

The article in the Tuesday, Dec. 28, paper titled “Kindler files salary appeal” caught my eye.

Bob Kindler ran for sheriff knowing full well how much the job paid. He hasn’t even been on the job yet, and he is already asking for more money! Apparently he thinks you can’t live on $75,000 a year? This sounds like greed to me. Is greed really a trait we want in our new sheriff?

I work two factory jobs, one full time and one part time. If I wanted to try a different job in the plant that I knew paid less then I currently make, I would have to take the pay cut. It’s that simple!

If Mr. Kindler’s intent is for “hazard” pay, he should come take a look at factory work. There have been several fingers cut off and smashed off and arms broken. One man actually lost his leg below the knee two years ago. He was very nearly killed!

I guess what I am trying to say is that people like me who work 10 or even 14 hours a day just trying to make ends meet get very upset with people who make $75,000 a year and think they deserve more.

Next election we should all make it perfectly clear. This is what the job pays, take it or leave it!
