The Ladies Auxiliary to Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 447 met at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at the American Legion Hall. President Eunice Hatleli presided.

The charter was draped in memory of sister Lois Jenson. A moment of silent prayer was held for the Arizona shooting victims.

They thanked the members who contributed to the “Bakeless Bake Sale.” Treasurer Beverly Boone will still accept contributions if anyone wishes to do so. Also she’ll accept any outstanding dues.

The VFW First District meeting will be at Hugo Matejek Post No. 3723 at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 5 in Owatonna. The auxiliary will meet at the Steele County Community Center with President Sonia Tatge presiding. Department Senior Vice President Debbie Tweet will be the department representative. There will be a memorial service for district members of both post and auxiliary members who passed on in 2010.

Hatleli served lunch. Boone received the door prize.

The next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the Legion Club.
