For three Mondays in November, the Albert Lea Noon Kiwanis club “passed the hat” for donations and raised almost $600 for the Humane Society to be included in the 2 for 1 matching grant that the Humane Society received from the Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation. Because of the grant and the generous donations received, the shelter expansion is planned for Spring 2011.
