Wii Sports Resort

Some people really get into video games about war lately. I don’t pass judgment on that. It’s all fun, but having been in a war, it’s hard for me to want to play first-person shooter games. (I suppose if a friend roped me into such a game, I might do it.) So for people who know me, it probably comes as no surprise that my favorite video games are usually sports, such as tennis or auto racing and such. My favorite of all is Nintendo “Wii Sports Resort.”

It offers swordplay, wakeboarding, “Frisbee” sports, archery, basketball, table tennis, golf, bowling, power cruising, canoeing, cycling, skydiving and plane flying. That’s like buying 12 games at once. The game requires players to have the Wii Motion Plus attachment, but it makes the fine touch of playing games like golf and bowling better than on the plain “Wii Sports” game. The game came out in July 2009, and I purchased it last winter.

Video game critics also give it a good rating. If you are looking for a video game for the non-gamer, this might be the one. Even my sister, who doesn’t hardly play games at our family gatherings, enjoyed it. — Tim Engstrom
