Roland Senne Sr., 82, Albert Lea

Visitation for Roland Louis “Bud” Senne Sr., of Albert Lea, will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Interment will be in Hillcrest cemetery at a later date.
Roland died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. He was 82 years old.
Roland Louis Senne was born March 30, 1928, in Martin County near Welcome to Louis and Frieda (Hein) Senne. The family moved to Fairmont when he was a child. He attended school in Fairmont. He enlisted in the Army at age 17. He served in Japan for 18 months. Roland married Rachel nee Zimanski Oct. 22, 1949, in Fairmont. He drove truck for Iowa Road Builders before moving to Albert Lea to drive over-the-road trucking. He worked for Albert Lea Freezer Warehouse as the refrigeration engineer for several years, then went back trucking. The past three years he’d worked for Dave Syverson Ford in the winter months. In the summer months Bud and his wife lived near Grand Rapids. He spent his summers fishing with friends and visiting with everybody.
Roland leaves behind his wife, Rachel, of 61 years; daughter, Vicki Lynn, and husband Ken Kooser; Roland Senne Jr. and his wife Rebecca; two grandsons: Jason Senne and his wife Kimberly and Justin Senne and his wife Angela; five great-grandchildren, his pride and joy.
