Salem Women’s Executive Board

The Salem Women’s Executive Board of Albert Lea met at 7 p.m. on Dec. 7. President Deb Beighley expressed her appreciation to the board with a beautifully set table, hot cider, Christmas treats, and a keepsake mug for each member. Kathy DePoppe gave a reading devotion, “The Christmas Prayer.”
Agenda items included a search for a chairman to make plans to bring treats and assist with the Spire Group who meet the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Crossroads Church. Circle Leaders were to address this need at the January Circle meetings.
The S.O.S. (Salem over Sixty) met for a noon catered meal, games and White Elephant Gifts on Dec. 9. Program chairwoman DePoppe reported on the plans for the Epiphany Brunch to be held at Salem at 9 a.m. on Jan. 8, 2011. It was voted to give $50 to purchase children’s gifts to be placed under the Salem Angel Tree. Salem will provide desserts for St. John’s coffee hour on Feb. 14 and June 6, 2011. The WELCA visiting team called on 24 Salem shut-ins in November. Circle duties for December and January were reviewed. A thank-you was extended to all who provided food, decorated tables and served the dinner to welcome the Rev. Mark and his wife, Mollie, Neithammer.
The next WELCA Executive Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. This new time was voted on and approved to become effective Jan. 4, 2011.
