Feddersen, Blacklock combined for 43 points
Trailing 32-21 at halftime, the Albert Lea Tigers boys’ basketball team pulled within 10 points of the Winona Winhawks with eight minutes left, but lost 63-41.
Winhawks’ (9-4, 7-2 Big Nine) seniors Martin Feddersen and Mark Blacklock scored 25 and 18 points, respectively.
“They’re a tough team to guard,” Tigers head coach Lucas Kreuscher said, of the Winhawks. “We couldn’t get enough stops.”
Kyle Ooms led the Tigers (3-10, 1-8) with 12 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Tyler Wichmann scored 11 points and Josh Eisenbraun chipped in eight in the loss.
“In the first half, we weren’t moving without the ball and getting clean, high percentage looks,” Kreuscher said. “But Winona is a good team. They don’t beat themselves and don’t make mistakes. We’ll be more prepared the next time around.”
The Tigers play again at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rochester Mayo (4-10, 1-7).
