You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Volunteer Driver: This winter help seniors maintain their independence when they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County needs additional drivers for half a day, one day a week or several days. Sometimes drivers are needed to go away from Freeborn County, but often it is just around town. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage. Please call Senior Resources at 377-7433 and ask for Marilyn.
Boy and Cub Scouts: Share your special talent with another leader to provide scouting experiences after school for second- and third-grade boys. Frequency depends on your availability, once or twice a month, perhaps.
Reading Partners: Did you know that learning to read in kindergarten to third grade makes for success in reading to learn for a lifetime? A child can be matched with an adult volunteer before or after school to build reading skills. If you can spare an hour a week, a child can benefit from your help. Call for Pat at 377-7433 and volunteer now!
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
