At the Jan. 27 Albert Lea Lions meeting, Lion President Irene Anderson presented two awards. The Helen Keller Award was presented to Lion, Craig McCormick (standing) and the Melvin Jones Award was presented to Lion, Dave Simpson.
Helen Keller challenged Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.” McCormick has worked toward this goal. He has been on several mission trips and fitted glasses donated to Lions and provided life changing sight for many. His name will be placed at the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank.
Melvin Jones Fellowship, LCIF’s highest honor, recognizes a person’s commitment to humanitarian service. Their name also is entered on a computer database accessible to visitors at International Headquarters. Simpson has been a faithful member of Lions for 45 years, a past president and has faithfully helped with the projects throuth the years and has been a positive influence in our community.
