Aleta Grose, 95, Wells

Aleta J. Grose, 95, of Wells, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The Rev. Kathy Fullarton will officiate and burial will take place in Attonement Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sebring, Fla. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting with arrangements.
Aleta was born June 9, 1915, in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Geneva (Harkness) Miller. She graduated from High School in Zumbrota, and then graduated from nursing school. On Nov. 23, 1937, she was united in marriage to Orlando Grose. Orlando was one of the first married men with children to be drafted for the war. For two years Aleta struggled and raised her children until Orlando was able to return home. She worked as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1977. She loved traveling and dinner theaters, and took over 100 bus trips to various destinations.
Aleta is survived by daughters: Carol Aske of Wells and Ellen (Howard) Hunt of Rochester; six grandchildren: Sue, Kari, David, Tim, Jeff and Brian; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and Lorraine Highet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando, in February 1980; her son John Grose in August 2008; her siblings: Clyde Miller, Vernes Kruse and Cleona Larfald.
