Bonding bill argument is flawed

The Tribune calls “Bonding bills good for the economy.” The argument that, “the bonding bill is a source of hope (because) it can provide jobs and get some much-needed projects going,” shows no understanding of basic economics.
Should the state be borrowing more money when it can’t meet its current obligations? Should the homeowner who has trouble paying his bills be asking for a second mortgage because he’d like to update his house and employ some people to do the work? It doesn’t add up. A banker would reject the loan, and readers should urge their legislators to reject any bonding bill.
