Freeborn County Public Health Director Lois Ahern will retire next week after working 32 years at the Freeborn County Public Health Department.
There will be a celebration of her retirement from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday in the Freeborn Room of the Freeborn County Courthouse. The public is invited.
“I’ve had a long and fulfilling career,” she said. “It’s presented challenges, growth, and I hope to leave the department and the community in a better position as a whole.”
Her final day is Feb. 28. She began in the department in October 1978 and became director in 1993.
Sue Yost will take over as interim public health director and community health services administrator effective March 1.
