Cougars top Tigers 72-62

Alik Smed scored a team-high 15 points Thursday as the Albert Lea Tigers boys’ basketball team lost 72-62 at the Mankato East Cougars.

The game was tied 23-23 before the Cougars ended the first half with six unanswered points and led 29-23 at the break.

“We got a lot of high percentage looks that didn’t go in,” Tigers coach Lucas Kreuscher said. “We struggled getting into transition and never really got into a rhythm offensively.”

Kyle Ooms led the Tigers with 10 rebounds and chipped in five points.

Josh Eisenbraun and Tyler Wichmann scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Tigers play again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Simley High School in Inver Grove Heights.
