Did the Packers just win the Super Bowl?

Scott Schmeltzer, Thanks for Listening

Aaron Rodgers

I said this week’s column would not be about the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. I said to myself that it is not fair to my readers (many of who are Minnesota Vikings fans) to taunt and go on and on about how the Packers won four straight road games and took on the Pittsburgh Steelers in what ended up being a win for the Packers, who really did not even win their division.

Charles Woodson

I also do not want to remind our sports editor, Andrew Dyrdal, and everyone else that in my predictions last September in a column that I wrote with Andrew, that I picked the Green Bay Packers to win it all against the Baltimore Ravens, while he predicted the Indianapolis Colts versus the Vikings, with the Vikings taking it all. I say that would be rude.

Clay Matthews

I also would not put pictures of some of my favorite Packers in my column so that readers could see what this year’s Super Bowl winners looked like.

So you see I am glad that I am not also mentioning that this year’s Super Bowl MVP was Aaron Rodgers, the Packers quarterback, who threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.

Greg Jennings

Going to Disneyland must have been fun.

I feel relieved because, as a publisher, I already receive hate mail on other topics, and by not writing about the Super Bowl-winning Green Bay Packers this week I will not get any from people who may support other teams.

Tribune Publisher Scott Schmeltzer is a Green Bay Packers fan, mainly because he grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where pretty much everyone roots for the green and gold.
