LAKE MILLS, Iowa — The Lake Mills/Northwood-Kensett Ducks wrestling team is sending two wrestlers to the state tournament Wednesday after Spencer Capitani and Royce Byrnes both placed second Saturday at the district tournament in Forest City, Iowa.

Capitani (25-7) will face Dakotah Poe, of Albia, (38-4) at 152 pounds in the first round at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines and Byrnes (33-10) will face Kyle Lux, of South Tama County (36-0).

“Capitani and Byrnes will continue to work hard this week,” Ducks coach Alex Bradenburg said. “They are going down to Des Moines with the goal of placing.”

Capitani and Byrnes are both seniors and were starting quarterbacks at Northwood-Kensett and Lake Mill High Schools, respectively.

The Ducks finished seventh as a team in the district out of 12 teams.

The Iowa state wrestling tournament runs from Wednesday through Saturday.
