To the Albert Lea girls’ hockey team.
Congratulations to the players and coaches for beating New Prague Friday at City Arena 2-1 in the first round of the Section 1A tournament. Though some teammates couldn’t play, others stepped up to help lead the team to a victory. Albert Lea plays again Thursday at Red Wing against the No. 1-seeded Red Wing team for the semifinals. Good luck girls!

To the Big Freeze.
The Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce and other organizers have put together a fantastic festival once again. If you have seen the poster, the choices of activities for people and families seem endless. You can see a poster in the windows or bulletin boards of many businesses or on the chamber’s website. Our advice: Get out to Frank Hall Park and Academy next Saturday and have some fun.

To Valentine’s Day.
Hey, husbands, consider this a reminder. Don’t forget to buy flowers, candy, dinner or a card for your wives. Valentine’s Day is Monday! Wives, don’t feel like you are without duties on this day, too. Maybe give your guy a tie or a DVD or do the Sadie Hawkins thing and ask him out on a date for an upcoming Friday or Saturday. Romance is best when it is a two-way street. Surprises are key!
