Man arrested after fleeing police

A 22-year-old Albert Lea man was arrested early this morning after he reportedly led police on a pursuit for less than half a mile.

According to an Albert Lea Police Department news release, Brandon Arric McCoy is being held for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and driving after revocation.

The release states at about 1:13 a.m. today, an officer attempted to stop McCoy’s vehicle near the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Shellrock Street for moving and equipment violations.

When the officer turned on his lights, McCoy allegedly accelerated to 45 mph in a 30 mph zone.

The officer then reportedly turned on his siren to attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver reportedly continued.

The pursuit ended less than a mile later when McCoy reportedly pulled into a driveway in the 400 block of Pillsbury Avenue, where he was arrested.

Two injured in crash

Two people were injured Monday morning after a crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in Worth County, Iowa.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a semitrailer attempted to pass a 2006 Ford Freestyle that was in the right lane, when the semi lost control.

The semi, driven by William Dwain Wagner, 46, of Blaine, reportedly struck the right rear corner of the car, and the car slid into the median. The semi rolled over in the ditch onto its top.

According to the State Patrol, Wagner was transported by Forest City ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.

Judy Edginess, 46, of Lake Mills, Iowa, who was the driver of the car was also reportedly injured. She was transported by private vehicle to Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

The Iowa State Patrol report stated charges are pending.

The agency was assisted at the scene by the Hanlontown and Fertile fire departments, Forest City and Worth County emergency crews and Iowa Department of Transportation.

Pickup reported missing

A red and white Ford F-150 pickup was reported missing from a residence at 11405 810th Ave. in Glenville at 2:33 p.m. Monday, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Two arrested for DWI

Police arrested John Ormond Edwards, 40, for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated and seatbelt violations at 12:14 a.m. today, after a traffic stop near the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and East Main Street, according to police.

Police arrested Ann-Marie Elizabeth Knutson for third-degree driving while intoxicated at 12:34 a.m. Sunday, at 86442 200th St., Oakland, sheriff’s reports stated.

Man arrested for meth possession

Police arrested Kevin Roy Peterson, 46, at 10 p.m. Monday at 514 Ulstad Ave., on a local warrant for violating his conditions, including felony possession of hydrocodone and meth.
