Man injured in snowmobile crash

A 26-year-old man was injured in a snowmobile crash Friday night along the snowmobile trail east of the Hayward rest area.

Brady Flatness of Alden was transported first to Albert Lea Medical Center and later flown to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester for shoulder pain and pain in his back.

According to a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office news release, the crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. Friday.

The snowmobile had struck a guide line wire along the trail.

Det. Scott Golbuff said Flatness was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, but it was thrown off. The man was conscious when authorities arrived.

Alcohol was not a factor.

The release stated deputies, troopers and officers also responded to numerous vehicle crashes on the interstates and county roads.
