Packers top Tigers 95-84

Preston Smith placed first Tuesday in the 100-yard butterfly as the Albert Lea Tigers boys’ swimming lost 95-84 to the Austin Packers at Albert Lea High School.

The 400-yard relay team of Issac Olson, Corbin Schulz, Andrew Ehrhardt and Larry Holcomb also placed first for the Tigers in the last race of the day in four minutes and 1.41 seconds.

The Tigers also had eight second-place finishes in 12 events.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Schulz, Sean Laurie, Smith and Brody Sundblad placed second, less than three seconds out of first place.

Olson placed second in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, Schulz placed second in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke, Sundblad placed first in the one-meter dive and Daniel Gould placed second in the 500-yard freestyle.

The 200-yard relay team of Olson, Sundblad, Smith and Holcomb also placed second on the 200-yard relay in 1:44.83 seconds.

The Tigers compete again Saturday at Austin.
