Prayer day planned

World Day of Prayer will be from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Albert Lea.

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical group of women and men of many faiths and traditions for prayer. It’s a common day of prayer to provide people with a new understanding of the world and ask for God’s wisdom. The theme this year is “How Many Loaves Have You?” The group take up the version of feeding the 5,000 as found in the Bible. The country chosen to honor this year is Chile.

The event will start with coffee and registration at 9:15 a.m. followed by the program in Westminster Hall. It is handicap accessible from the south.

Everyone is invited to join the group in worship and song in this time of hunger, violence and stress.

Church Women United is ecumenical in Freeborn County for all churches.

Leaders are: Joan Reynen, Irene Weber, Arlene Egerdal, Jan Zehnder and Beth Spande.
