Area residents applying for assistance through the Freeborn County Humane Society’s spay/neuter program have been approved to submit 2009 tax forms if they have not yet completed their 2010 tax forms.
The organization has a goal to spay 10 female cats or large dogs before March 1, so it can be put in a drawing for an extra $500 for spay/neuter surgeries.
People can request an application for the spay/neuter program by emailing hs_of_fc@hotmail.com, calling 377-8501, or writing to: HSFC S/N Program, P.O. Box 423, Albert Lea MN 56007. People can also leave a message on the voicemail of the project coordinator at 396-3659.
The Humane Society is also hosting a cyber-event called “Beat the Heat” through Facebook to encourage people to refer their friends with female pets to the program.
