In regard to your story “Stores oppose Sunday liquor sales” dated Feb. 15, with all due respect, both store owners interviewed have off-sale-only businesses. If they choose not to be open on Sunday, that should be their personal decision.

But for us owners of Sunday on-sale establishments, it would be nice to have the option since we are open anyway. I agree that we wouldn’t see a huge increase in our Sunday gross sales, but it would be advantageous for our rural customers to be able to purchase off-sale on Sundays.

I never did understand the mentality that it’s OK to go to a bar and drink on Sunday, but you can’t purchase liquor or beer and enjoy it in the privacy of your own home on Sunday.
