Albert Lean involved in New York play

An Albert Lea High School graduate was involved with a play in New York that could find its way to Broadway and the local cinema.
Craig Palmer, born in Albert Lea, lives in New York worked on the stage production crew for the play “Dark of the Moon” years ago.
It is a 1945 play by Howard Richardson and William Berney. The plot centers on an Appalachian witch boy who attempts to become human after he falls in love with a human girl. The story is based on the folk song “The Ballad of Barbara Allen.”
According to the entertainment magazine Variety, a team of producers acquired the rights to the play, with hopes of turning it into a musical adaptation with big-screen possibilities. The score would be drawn from Appalachian folk music.
