April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In addition, the week of April 10-16 is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. During this month, the Crime Victims Crisis Center is working to raise awareness about child abuse, sexual assault and victims’ rights.
This year’s national theme is “Reshaping the Future, Honoring the Past.”
CVCC staff are encouraging Freeborn County youth to participate in its annual art contest. The contest promotes the goal of the CVCC to raise awareness and educate the community about crime victimization and resources available to crime victims.
The contest is open to preschool-age children through 12th-graders in Freeborn County.
Contact the CVCC at 507-377-5460 for contest guidlines.
The first- and second-place winners of each category will be recognized with prizes and certificates at the Freeborn County Proclamation of Crime Victims’ Rights Week on April 11.
