Editorial: Send in your sports results

Thank you to the Dartball League for submitting your standings all season long to our sports editor and for submitting photos of your year-end champions, too.

We can’t say it enough: WE WANT YOUR SPORTS RESULTS! Whether you are part of a youth league, high school activity or an adult league, the Albert Lea Tribune is more than happy to print your group’s sports results and standings.

The Dartball League provides a good example. So does the Knights Youth Baseball organization. The volleyball league at the Albert Lea Family Y sends us results, too. But for some reason, many groups just don’t think to send their results in.

Here is our suggestion:

• Send in your week-to-week standings or results. This is basically the names and numbers. This also raises awareness in the community of your activity.

• After the end of your season or even after a major tournament or contest, send in photos, captions and results.

And don’t worry about how odd your sport is, how young or old your competitors are or how low your participation happens to be. This newspaper counts chess as a sport (so does the International Olympic Committee, by the way), so you can rest assured we won’t quibble about getting your submission in the paper.

If your outfit happened to be the Albert Lea Paper Football Field Goal League and your competitors were 5-year-old kindergartners squaring off against 90-year-old grandparents, we would print your results.

Send your sports results to Andrew Dyrdal. His email address is tribsports@albertleatribune.com. If you prefer postal mail, the address is 808 W. Front St., Albert Lea, MN 56007.

We’ll see you on the sports pages.
