Freeborn County Share-the-Fun results

Eighty Four Freeborn County 4-H members recently participated in the annual Share-the-Fun competition. The competition was held on March 27 at the Southwest Little Theatre in Albert Lea. There were numerous parents, family, friends and visitors that were in attendance to watch the 4-H’ers in the many different acts. Freeborn County ambassadors were hosts of the afternoon with Jake Reed from the Hartland Club and Alex Golbuff from the Hayward Club acting as the emcees. The judges for the event were Robin Schmidt from Albert Lea, Pat Mulso from Albert Lea and Mindy Tenold from Northwood, Iowa. The winners and alternates in each of the six categories are as follows:
Vocal
Winner: “Our Song” by Liana Schallock, Hayward Club
Alternate: “These Boots are Made for Walking” by Abby Deyo, Alicia Louters, Liana Schallock, Bethany Tennis and Betsy Wagner from the Hayward Club
Instrumental
Winner: “This Little Light of Mine” by Julia Otten, Hayward Club
Alternate: Katie Maxa, Oakland Club
Reading
Winner: “Bumblebee” by Kristin Hahn, Hayward
Skit
Winner: “Boys that Fall”, Conger 4-H Club
Alternate: “4-H Has Talent”, Hayward Club
Miscellaneous
Winner: “Dynamite” by Liana Schallock and Brianna Shae from the Hayward Club
Alternate: “World Renowned 4-H Marching Band” by Hartland 4-H Club
Group Musical
Winner: “The Wonderful County Fair”, Conger 4-H Club
Alternate: “Funky Freeborn Fair”, Hayward 4-H Club
The judges selected the “4-H Marching Band” by the Hartland Club as the Grow Green Award. The Funny Bone award went to the “Lutefisk Song” by Pieter Louters, Phillip Wagner, Louis Wagner, and Seth Wagner from the Hayward Club. The Best Props award went to the girls that sang “These Boots are Made for Walking” by Abby Deyo, Alicia Louters and Liana Schallock, Bethany Tennis and Betsy Wagner for their great outfits.
Conger 4-H Club received the Most Creative Award for “The Wonderful County Fair”. Members from the Hayward 4-H Club won the 4-H Spirit Award for their “Funky Freeborn Fair”. Conger 4-H Club also won the Best Costume Award for their Skit titled “The Boys That Fall.”
“The Wonderful County Fair” by the Conger 4-H Club was chosen as the Overall Winner to represent Freeborn County at the Minnesota State Fair in September Julia Otten with her piano piece titled “This Little Light of Mine” was chosen as the alternate.
