Highland Avenue needs cul de sac

Published 2:48 pm Saturday, March 12, 2011

A safety hazard presently exists in the 1st Ward on a dead-end street. The street is Highland Avenue, which runs north of Hammer Road.

Ambulances and fire trucks have only one way in. There are also great challenges for city snowplows, trucks, city leaf vacuuming trucks, garbage trucks and delivery trucks.

Highland Avenue can be expanded 663 feet north to Pilot Road. Hills Lane can also be connected to the east. At minimum expense, a cul de sac could be built as in Minnie Maddern Street, Ridge Circle and Will-O-Bruce Avenue.

This seven-acre area only has one dwelling on it. One block east Rowe Lane was built in the ’90s and is now fully built up.
