Learning about wildlife

Albert Lea Area Schools elementary students have been studying wildlife in art classes. As part of the wildlife unit, students from Hawthorne, Sibley, Halverson and Lakeview elementaries were able to work with a wildlife artist. Local artist Mark Kness talked with students at each school and helped students with drawing and painting perspectives and talked about wildlife art. Kness is a wildlife artist from Albert Lea who has won several state duck stamps and is a well-established artist in the wildlife art field. The students enjoyed the experience and his presentation. The experience happened because of grant money from the Perpich grant. Above, Kness works with fifth-graders at Sibley. -- Submitted photo
