Marlys Johnson, 75, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Marlys Marie Johnson of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.
Marlys died Friday evening at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 75 years of age.
Marlys was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Webster, S.D., the daughter of Henry E. and Mary H. (Lardy) Johnson. She was a high school graduate in Roslyn, S.D. Marlys was united in marriage to Eugene D. Johnson on June 29, 1957, in Webster, S.D. They made their home in Albert Lea where she was the manager for the Queens Employees Credit Union for more than 33 years. Earlier in her life she worked in the Day County courthouse in Webster and one year at the American State Bank in Mankato.
Marlys was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, delivered Meals on Wheels, was an active member of the Naeve Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at Hawthorne Elementary School. She enjoyed camping, gardening (especially her roses), Minnesota Twins baseball and being with her friends. Her grandchildren and family were the love of her life.
Marlys is survived by her children: Dawn Schoo of Waconia; Scott and his wife, Michelle, Johnson of Bloomington; and Brian Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla. Grandchildren include: Reilly Schoo, Luke Johnson, Dan Johnson, Andrew Johnson and Sam Johnson. One sister survives, Marion Grosek of Webster, S.D., and several nieces and nephews.
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene; sister Marlene Mahlen; and niece Tammy Mahlen.
