The Salem Lutheran Women’s Board met March 1, at 3:30 p.m. The meeting opened with a devotion given by Mary Thompson entitled “Praising The Lord.” Katherine DePoppe presided.
Marianne DePoppe, program chairwoman, addressed the women’s spring event which will be held at 10 a.m. April 30. The theme for the day will be “Spring Into Spring.” Lydia Circle will host.
World Day of Prayer sponsored by Church Women United was held on March 4 at the First Presbyterian Church. Beth Spande spoke on Chile where she recently visited. The program was entitled, “How Many Loaves Do You Have?”
The Special People in Religious Education program was addressed, they are still seeking a chairman who will organize and serve treats to that group the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Salem will host the Lenten Service on March 30 and plans were made to serve coffee and baked items after the service.
All Salem shut-ins were called on in February. The Wedding Committee has one wedding in May, and they have three new committee members. Sew ‘N Tell reported they met on Feb. 8 and 21 and packed 40 boxes of used clothing for the Marie Sandvik Center, 13 boxes for Appalachia, nine boxes for the VA and seven boxes of quilts where needed. The next board meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. April 5. Meeting closed with The Lord’s Prayer.
